Almere, 2 October 2018, YANMAR Energy Systems, division of YANMAR Europe B.V., has won a coveted RAC Cooling Industry Award. The RAC Cooling Industry Awards are widely considered the most authoritative awards in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry.
The results of the RAC Cooling Industry Awards were revealed on 26th September at the London Hilton on Park Lane, where over 600 of the refrigeration and air conditioning industry elite came together for a night of recognition and celebration of the sector’s achievements.
Proof of new thinking
YANMAR has won an Industry Award in the category of Refrigeration Innovation – Standalone with the YANMAR Gas Engine‐driven Refrigeration Series, GDR. The RAC Cooling Industry Awards expert judging panel described YANMAR’s contribution as follows:
“With the GDR YANMAR demonstrates new thinking in making cooling available in locations where cooling would not be practical or economical otherwise. The package is well conceived and proven in an industrial environment and there are various potential applications across the globe.”
First refrigeration system powered by gas
The YANMAR GDR series is the first in the world to offer customers a choice to use natural gas as a main energy source for refrigeration between 0-10°C as an alternative to commonly used electrically powered systems. The main advantages of gas-driven refrigeration by YANMAR are:
- approximately 90% reduction in electric consumption;
- reduced carbon footprint of up to 15%;
- up to 50% lower operating costs due to the efficiency of the YANMAR gas engine;
- ability to reclaim waste heat and use this to provide a source of free hot water.
